G-Mark
G-Mark certification for compliant market access in the GCC.
G-Mark certification for compliant market access in the GCC.
G-Mark is a mandatory certification for regulated products in GCC countries, confirming compliance with GSO technical standards. It covers items from electrical appliances to children’s toys, ensuring safety, performance, and reliability.
The G-Mark is a conformity symbol that confirms a product meets the technical regulations set by the GSO. It is mandatory for a wide variety of regulated goods from electrical appliances to children’s toys entering the markets of GCC countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait.
Products bearing the G-Mark are guaranteed to meet high standards of performance, reliability, and user safety, giving both consumers and regulators full confidence in their compliance.
The GSO is a unified regulatory body that develops technical standards and conformity procedures across the GCC region. By enforcing common technical regulations, the GSO ensures that only high-quality and safe products are traded within the Gulf.
To legally sell regulated products in GCC markets, you must comply with the GSO’s requirements and obtain a G-Mark certificate from an accredited Conformity Assessment Body.
Products Require G-Mark Certification
G-Mark regulations cover a wide range of everyday and industrial goods. Examples include:
1. Household appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners)
2. Low-voltage electrical devices
3. Children’s toys
4. Kitchen equipment
5. Lighting equipment (e.g., LED)
6. Electrical accessories and power tools
G-Mark Compliance Requirements for Low Voltage Electrical Products
Self-Declaration for List 1 Regulated Products:
For List 1 products, manufacturers must implement a robust factory quality control system to ensure products are manufactured and assembled under controlled processes. This includes production line testing to verify quality and compliance with the approved design. Once all requirements are met, the manufacturer can affix the G-Mark and issue a formal Declaration of Conformity.
Notified Body Involvement for List 2 Regulated Products:
For List 2 products, manufacturers are required to engage a single Gulf Notified Body to review the product’s technical design and confirm compliance with Gulf Technical Regulations. Upon approval, the Notified Body issues an evaluation report along with a Gulf Type Examination Certificate. The manufacturer must also maintain a production quality system and prepare a complete Technical Construction File for each model, including risk assessments, test reports, and the Notified Body’s evaluation documents.
